WHY LIFESTYLE MEDICINE?

I am trained in Lifestyle Medicine and Functional Medicine for complex chronic diseases. This means I have a deep understanding how every aspect of the way you live your life and the environment you live in affect your personal health and well-being. The food you eat, the air you breath, the levels of stress you experience and how much you relax, the positive or negative emotions and relationships in your life, your movement and the quality of your sleep all have a profound impact on the functioning of your body. It is my passion to help you connect the dots for your own body and mind and understand what you can do to make yourself feel better.

I have experience with conditions such as type 2 diabetes, diseases of the digestive system and food sensitivites, autoimmune conditions, chronic pain, CFS/ME, burnout, anxiety, depression, insomnia and decline in brain function. However, according to the WHO 80% of chronic health conditions can be prevented, improved or even reversed with healthy lifestyle change. Just talk to me to find out if lifestyle change could help you with your condition, too.

Lifestlye change is the fundamental basis to improve any such condition, but sometimes it is of course necessary to also take medication or supplements, obtain advanced blood tests or other medical interventions. For these I am happy to refer out, collaborate with any other healthcare provider you may have or help you to find a practitioner who is trained in Functional Medicine.

WHY HEALTH COACHING?

What is unique about my approach is to combine these insights with health coaching tools that empower you to take your health in your own hand to truly achieve lasting behaviour change.

Most people are aware that they feel better if they move more, eat healthier, or get more sleep, for instance. But changing any habit is difficult, if it was easy you'd have done it all along. A health coach is trained in techniques that help you bridge this intention-behaviour gap to achieve what you actually want for your wellbeing.

"Many people struggle with something that is damaging their well-being, e.g. uncontrolled stress, excess weight, life balance, low energy, poor fitness, inadequate levels of positive emotions, or a medical condition. They find it difficult to engage, day in day out, in investing in their health and well-being in order to foster vitality and avoid a preventable illness."

"Health and wellness coaches work with clients to improve their health, vitality, and well-being by engaging in behaviors that have been proven to improve health and prevent disease including weight loss, fitness, nutrition, stress coping, sleep, mind-body and positive psychology interventions."

"Coaches help people overcome the struggle, and build resources such as self-empathy, self-motivation, self-awareness, mindfulness, new insights and perspectives, confidence, optimism, and resilience, and make changes that last. Their new lifestyles become embedded into who they are."

WHAT IS THE PROCESS OF WORKING WITH ME?

I suggest you first book a free 30-minute Discovery Call to discuss in person what kind of health challenges you would like support with and how I work to help you along the way. Please just email me for my availability.

If you choose to work me after our Discovery Call I will send you a link to my intake questionnaire, which serves as the basis for a comprehensive assessment of your health history as well as your current health concerns and goals. This is an opportunity for you to reflect deeply on your wellbeing and often opens the door to transformative insights right at the start.

Prior to our intake session I will work through your responses to provide you with new insights on the triggers, mediators and root causes of your DIS-EASE. In our 90 min intake session we discuss this together to fill the gaps and hone in on where you are at now with your health, what your personal goals are, and how we can get you to where you want to be. We end each session with your personal step-by-step plan how to tranform your health and your quality of life for the better.

Alongside this I provide you with relevant background information for your specific health concerns and various support tools that help you to implement changes and stay on track. Support between sessions is possible based on our individual agreement.

After our intake session you can choose whether you would like a discounted multi-session package for follow-ups or whether you prefer to book individual sessions as and when you need them. I don’t make my clients commit to any set number of sessions from the start as I recognise that needs vary vastly from person to person and it is important to me that you get out of this exactly what you need. Many people require +/- 6 sessions over the course of 3 months to really consolidate the changes they make early on and integrate them into a new lifestyle, but depending on your health concerns, your goals and engagement a kickstarter of 2-3 sessions can sometimes be enough.
