Lifestyle Medicine is a new medical field that investigates how our behaviour and environment influence our health for the better or worse. Functional Medicine is a science-based approach to uncover the root causes of chronic disease and restore health by addressing those. It combines Lifestyle Medicine with the principles of Systems Biology and its own methodological approach. Systems Biology is the research field about how everything in our body is connected and influences one another in one big system. A comprehensive Functional Medicine approach methodologically and systematically assesses all those factors in a person's life and then addresses them with a personalised plan.

With these complex considerations Functional Medicine is at the forefront of transferring the latest medical research into clinical practice and inspiring further research to look for new directions how to address today's chronic disease epidemic. It is the future of medicine for complex chronic diseases now.
